CaRCC People Network Calls
Data-Facing Track(1st Tuesdays)
Tue, Feb 3 1p ET/ 12p CT/ 11a MT/ 10a PT
AI-Ready Data, Manasvita Joshi and Sarah Marchese
Following the accelerated usage of AI tools in multiple domains, the curation of research data to be “AI-ready” became essential. “AI-ready” data is imperative if researchers seek to derive the most value from their organization’s AI efforts. In this discussion, we focus on what AI-ready data is, how researchers can achieve it, how it differs from traditional data preparation, and what data-management practices one should employ to manage AI-ready data. We will also highlight related learning resources and RCD considerations that should be taken into account while preparing AI-ready data, part of the in-progress work by CaRCC’s AI Facilitation Materials working group.
Strategy and Policy-Facing Track(1st Wednesdays)
Wed, Feb 4 12p ET/ 11a CT/ 10a MT/ 9a PT
State-wide initiatives and partnerships to build capacity, open panel discussion
In this call we will discuss the lessons learned from establishing state-wide partnerships in RCD and HPC. Panelists in this call have been selected from those in our community who have led such efforts in the past few years.
Researcher-Facing Track(2nd Thursdays)
Thu, Feb 12 2026, 1p ET/ 12p CT/ 11a MT/ 10a PT
AI assistants, agents, and tools in Research Computing, Speakers TBD
Please join us in February to discuss how to enable efficient, scalable, and user‑friendly AI workflows. More specifics to come.
Emerging Centers Track(3rd Wednesdays)
Wed, Feb 18 12p ET/ 11a CT/ 10a MT/ 9a PT/ 7a PT
Getting Started with Data, Presentation/Discussion
We continue our “Getting Started with…” series of monthly calls this month with Getting Started with Data. High-Performance Computing (HPC) has become an ubiquitous commodity with many institutions, including emerging centers, now having some HPC compute resources and the broad availability of national compute resources. Because of this, data services are becoming the differentiating factor for institutional research support. Join this community discussion, led by the Emerging Center’s track co-coordinator Jason Simms, to share what your institution has been doing or thinking about doing around data services and see what your colleagues are up to at their institutions.
Systems-Facing Track(3rd Thursdays)
Thu, Feb 19 1p ET/ 12p CT/ 11a MT/ 10a PT
Quantum-Centric HPC; Practicalities, Use Cases and Facilitation, Presentation
We continue our “Getting Started with…” series of monthly calls this month with Getting Started with Quantum computing holds immense promise for achieving computational gains once thought unattainable, given the physical limits to classical compute resources. Certain classes of problems could benefit greatly from speedups obtainable from the exploitation of superposition and entanglement by quantum computing systems. This presentation will look at realistic instances in the current noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) -era, how these (and other use cases) might scale with quantum hardware, and strategies for integration of quantum resources with HPC.
Speaker: Torey Battelle, PhD; Associate Director, Research Computing; Associate Director Quantum Collaborative, Research Technology Office, Arizona State University
The Systems-Facing track is also inviting community feedback through this survey. Responses are de-identified, unless you indicate that you wish to be contacted. Please spend some time to fill it out and inform S-F’s planning for the year ahead.

RCD Workforce Development Interest Group Tue, Feb 10 2p ET/ 1p CT/ 12p MT/ 11a PT (2nd Tuesdays): Micro-Credentials in Research Computing and Data Workforce Development. Micro-credentials are emerging as a flexible and scalable way to recognize specialized skills and competencies in research computing and data (RCD). They offer opportunities for professional growth, institutional recognition, and industry alignment. In this session, we will explore how micro-credential programs can support workforce development and address the evolving needs of the RCD community. Laura Cayon (Purdue University) will share insights from a recently developed micro-credential program created in partnership with a corporate collaborator. David Reddy (University of South Carolina) will discuss his mature micro-credential program and its impact on professional development within the RCD ecosystem. See Zoom details below.
