Data-Facing Track

Do you help researchers compute with data?  The Data-Facing Track of the People Network brings together people from research computing groups, libraries, research institutes, and other organizations who support data-enabled research.  Many of us are also Researcher-Facing, but this track is an opportunity to discuss the varied challenges of working with data.

Topics include:

  • Data science support
  • Bioinformatics, statistics, GIS, and other support
  • Data visualization
  • Data management and curation
  • Data workflows
  • Data transfer and networks
  • Data collection and production
  • Working with big data
  • And more, as determined by our members!

We connect via monthly calls and an email list.

Upcoming Call(s)

November 5th 2024 – NIST Research Data Framework (RDaF)

The NIST Research Data Framework (RDaF) is a multifaceted and customizable tool that aims to help shape the future of open data access and research data management (RDM). The RDaF is a map of the research data space that uses a lifecycle approach with six stages to organize key information concerning RDM and research data dissemination and will allow organizations and individual researchers to develop their own RDM strategy. The RDaF is applicable from the organization to the project level and encompasses a wide array of job roles involving RDM, from executives and chief data officers to publishers, funders, and researchers. We will hear from Andrea Medina-Smith and Robert Hanisch about the RDaF, some current implementations, and how others have foreseen using the framework.

Track Coordination
