AI Facilitation Materials Working Group

Goals and Objectives

The AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) Facilitation Materials working group aims to develop resources and training materials to help RCD (Research Computing and Data) professionals effectively facilitate the use of AI/ML technologies. These materials, designed primarily for RCD professionals, will also help them work effectively with researchers and educators.

The working group will create the following resources:

  • An AI taxonomy, with examples and case studies across multiple academic domains, to aid RCD professionals in the facilitation of AI resources.
  • A guide for characterizing the resource requirements of AI methods, including a few worked case studies.
  • A set of facilitation resources that can be used when working with researchers and educators, these include
    • NAIRR Pilot proposal guidance,
    • an AI facilitation conversation template.
  • A curated list of educational resources that can be used by RCD professionals, researchers, and educators, including
    • a list of resources for learning about AI/ML algorithms/methods/tools,
    • a list of resources and tips that impact AI/ML implementation on RCD resources.
  • A presentation of available resources and case studies for RCD professionals to aid them in facilitating AI research and education. This includes the resources developed as part of the working group.

Contribute to the Working Group

If you are interested in contributing to the AI/ML Facilitation Materials working group, we welcome your participation! You will need to attend weekly calls and contribute to the development of materials outside of meetings. To get involved, please email ai-facilitation-materials-coordinators@carcc.org. If you are interested in discussing AI Facilitation, you can join the AI Facilitation interest group (see below).

Join the AI Facilitation Interest Group

If you’re looking more for opportunities for experience sharing around AI/ML facilitation, join the AI Facilitation Interest Group! Interest groups provide a space for informal and less-frequent conversations, without the commitment to ongoing development work expected in a working group.
