Events and Conferences
7th National Research Platform (7NRP) Workshop May 5–7 in La Jolla, CA (SDSC/Qualcomm Institute). The workshop covers the current state and future direction of the National Research Platform, including topics in GPU-accelerated molecular simulations, distributed computing, and AI-enabled research infrastructure. NAIRR Pilot Classroom Expansion Conferences — Research-Emerging Institutions with Large Computing Programs In-person convenings taking place May–June 2026. Led by CRA in collaboration with Northern Kentucky University, Texas State, and Kennesaw State, these workshops build communities of practice focused on increasing AI education capacity and utilizing NAIRR Pilot resources at R2 and master’s-level institutions. Democratizing AI Training and Access Statewide Workshop Date TBD (May) at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. The fifth and final workshop in this NSF-funded NAIRR Pilot Expansion Project series, covering LLMs, machine learning, multimodal models, and AI-powered data science. TACC Decision Support Institute May 11–15 in Austin, TX. A week-long, in-person institute on building end-to-end decision support systems that integrate scientific research, sensor data, physics-based models, and stakeholder knowledge to tackle complex problems with no clear solutions. Register.
TACC Data Curation Institute May 18–21 in Austin, TX. Hands-on training on curation of large-scale complex data — from geospatial and imaging to simulations and AI outputs. Topics include data modeling, quality control, semantic search, AI-ready metadata, and impact measurement. Register.

ACCESS and NAIRR Pilot Office Hours — Every second Tuesday (May 12), 3–4 PM ET; every fourth Wednesday (May 27), 12–1 PM ET. Hosted by SCIPE Cyberinfrastructure Professionals (CIPs) and ACCESS resource providers. Application Deadlines and Upcoming Opportunities
NERSC 2026 Call for AI for Science Proposals — Proposals accepted on a rolling basis. Submissions made by April 30, 2026 received full consideration, but proposals will continue to be reviewed until all Perlmutter GPU resources are awarded. Up to 10,000 GPU node hours per project. Submit a proposal.
Throughput Computing Week 2026 (HTC26) — June 9–12 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Fluno Center. In-person registration ($130/day) closes May 31. Remote participation is free. Register.
