CaRCC has moved to fixed terms for co-chair roles across our Tracks and Interest Groups. 2026 was the first cycle under the new model, which is why you have seen a number of new names on our lists this year.
Here is how it works. Co-chair positions now carry two-year terms. When a term ends, the co-chair can stand again or step back, and members and Track committees select from among the nominees. Every position is held by two co-chairs, so no one steps into a new role alone and no group turns over all at once.
Rotation does a few useful things for a community-run organization. It spreads the work across more of the membership, it creates a predictable path into leadership for people who want one, and it means the groups keep running on shared knowledge rather than on individual memory. We plan to run this cycle again.
Timing for this first round: incoming co-chairs took their seats upon selection. Outgoing co-chairs remain active through their group’s August 2026 activities, with the formal handoff at the end of the month.
