Accessibility Month: Swarthmore College’s Approach to Integrating Accessibility Across the Institution
Jen Moore, Course Content Accessibility Manager, Swarthmore College
Corrine Schoeb, Digital Accessibility Program Manager, Swarthmore College
Swarthmore takes a proactive—and somewhat uncommon—approach to integrating accessibility across all levels of the institution. Corrine Schoeb is the Digital Accessibility Program Manager and leads these efforts with a strong commitment to embedding accessibility into everyday work. By approaching accessibility from a strategic, institution-wide perspective, Swarthmore has identified a number of unexpected opportunities, many of which have resulted in systems and processes that enhance the experiences of the broader campus community.
Jen Moore, MSEd and CPACC (she/they) joined the accessibility team as Course Content Accessibility Manager in 2022, where they have focused on creating a system to handle the increasing volume and complexity of accessible course material requests. As the eldest of five and first in their family to attend college, Jen is committed to equity, which is reflected in their leadership of student workers who are building systems to and are actively remediating inaccessible course content. Jen is also an Assistant Softball Coach at Swarthmore College.
