Greetings, People Networkers, and our RCD ecosystem colleagues!
As we wind down the last days in 2024, it’s hard not to wax a little nostalgic about CaRCC’s past year: 40 different Track Calls, over 1200 Call attendees, five new Interest & Working groups, and a decision to incorporate as a non-profit. And all due to the efforts and participation of the CaRCC community. Thank you!!
To review and preview, we have two additional meetings to announce for January: our annual CaRCC Parade and also a Town Hall on CaRCC’s plan to transition to a non-profit organization. So mark your calendars for these upcoming People Network & CaRCC calls (Zoom details at the end). As usual, we wish to highlight other calls from our RCD ecosystem peers, as these events touch many, if not all, in our community.
For handy calendar entries, try the CaRCC People Network Calendar (GCal view; integrate). And if you’re not receiving our regular communications, you can join our email list and join our Slack channels.
In closing, we wish each of you a festive holiday season and success in 2025!

Containers promise benefits for both researchers and cyberinfrastructure (CI) professionals, by offering pre-assembled software stacks with a lower barrier to entry. However, the benefits of containers are best realized in a well-developed CI ecosystem with support from administrators. This presentation will cover the emerging container ecosystem supported by Texas A&M University’s High Performance Research Computing Group (HPRC) and cover lessons learned from the perspective of a team that manages a diverse CI portfolio. This includes the process of building a container ecosystem for HPRC computing resources, outreach to researcher communities, and documenting use cases that inspire uptake by others.
