The Data Rescue Project: Preserving Public Access to Public Data
The Data Rescue Project started in February 2025 as a coordinated effort of three data organizations, including members of IASSIST, RDAP, and the Data Curation Network with the goal is to serve as a clearinghouse for data rescue-related efforts and data access points for public US governmental data that are currently at risk of deletion or complete removal from government websites and archives.Efforts include: data gathering, data curation and cleaning, data cataloging, and providing sustained access and distribution of data assets.

Looking Ahead: Adjusting to Changing Landscape of Research Computing
In this round-table discussion, we will discuss as a community our strategies and challenges in looking and planning ahead. This includes current priorities, decision-making and prioritization of goals/work, addressing aging infrastructure, reducing climate impacts, and navigating changes in the higher ed research computing and data eco-system.
Please join this discussion to share your successes and friction points. We have invited a handful of community members to contribute brief, informal comments to begin the discussion. Attendees are encouraged to engage and participate in the conversation to help shape the 2025-2026 year. We are excited to bring in more voices. Science Policy for Impact in Uncertain Times (rescheduled from August; note week change)
Kei Koizumi, former Principal Deputy Director, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy
Kei Koizumi will discuss some of the ways in which he has tried to use science policy tools to achieve impact toward the mission of providing opportunities for people in communities all across America to participate in and benefit from science and engineering, with special attention to the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. He will offer thoughts on the current situation for federal funding of science and try to offer some reasons for optimism in this uncertain time.
