Strategy and Policy-Facing Track (1st Wednesdays)

Documenting metrics for RCD programs (part 2)
Wed July 5th, 12p ET/ 11a CT/ 10a MT/ 9a PT
From reporting operational performance metrics in terms of system up-time to research impact metrics of grant dollars generated, every RCD program uses some sort of performance metrics to showcase its impact to various audiences. In this two-part discussion series, we are exploring different types of metrics in use at various RCD programs which are diverse in maturity/size. The June 7th call focused on the data collection done in compiling metrics; the July 5th call will be a discussion of how collected metrics data is used at different institutions.

Data-Facing Track (1st Tuesdays)

Researcher-Facing Track (2nd Thursdays)

No call this month. On August 10th, Dave Goodlove from CIQ will give us an update on the world of containers world since our last RF call about containers, including the evolution of singularity to Apptainer, efforts to create and run containers completely in user space, running parallel applications from containers, and system level replacements for Docker like Podman from RedHat.

Emerging Centers Track (3rd Wednesdays)

No call this month, but don’t  miss our August call (Wed. August 16, 12pm EST) with Bryan Johnston, Senior HPC Technologist, Advanced Computer Engineering Lab, Centre for High Performance Computing, South Africa,

Systems-Facing Track (3rd Thursdays)

No call this month (July 2023). We are looking into again planning, in collaboration with HPCSYSPROS, a social/meet up at PEARC23 for those who will be attending.

Tue July 11th, 2pm ET/ 11am PT (2nd Tuesdays): CaRCC RCD Staff Workforce Development Interest Group. This month’s call will be all about Staff and Student Mentoring programs: what makes a good program; what you’d like to see included in a mentoring program. The newly created CaRCC RCD Professionals Mentoring Working Group is interested in your experiences and any ideas for an RCD professionals mentoring program. Let’s break it down and decide what we’d like to see as a community!
