Research Cybersecurity Interest Group (RCsIG)

Goals and Objectives

The Research Cybersecurity Interest Group (RCsIG) will discuss and develop ideas, activities, and recommended practices for action at the intersection of Research Computing and Data (RCD) Facilitation and Research Cybersecurity, with emphasis on blending populations of RCD professionals and cybersecurity professionals working in research environments.

Our Next Call: February 26, 2026

Please join us on Thursday, February 26, 2026, 11:00am to 12:00pm PT (2:00 to 3:00pm ET) for our monthly call, and share with colleagues who may also be interested in attending!

Topic: How to Talk to Researchers

One of the topics suggested by many of you was “how to talk to researchers”, so we’ve lined up an expert for the February call. Guest speaker Henry Neeman, Executive Director of Research Computing at University of Oklahoma, will give a talk on effective communication with researchers. In this session, he will discuss research terminology, research computing versus enterprise IT, the mindset gap, and things to say to a researcher. If you’ve heard Henry speaker before, you know how powerful his messages are. If you have not, you’re in for a real treat!

If you already have a V-Card, we recommend that you update it with any new topics you would like to discuss. If you have not yet created a V-Card, please open the link and populate a slide with your name, home institution, role, and a suggested future topic, speaker, or discussion.

Looking forward to seeing you all next week!

RCsIG meetings are held monthly on fourth Thursdays at 11am PT.
