Research Computing and Data professionals are not typically developed through formal degrees or certificates. Instead, their training and growth come primarily from hands-on experience and self-acquired skills and knowledge. Consequently, mentorship opportunities are among this community’s most frequently requested support programs.
The RCD Staff and Student Workforce Mentoring Working Group is addressing mentorship for all levels of the RCD workforce with attention to mentorship programs for RCD individuals, RCD student workers, and institutional RCD programs.
The Working Group is examining existing mentoring programs, both general and those specific to research computing and data and adjacent careers, leverage applicable programs and develop activities specific to the RCD workforce.
