  • NSF Expanding National AI Infrastructure with New Data Systems and Resources
  • New NAIRR Pilot Resources Available: Voltage Park: Access to high-performance compute clusters powered by Nvidia HGX H100 GPUs.  LexsetCustom visual synthetic datasets for computer vision model training and evaluation. Chameleon: Chameleon is an NSF-funded edge to cloud platform for computer science research, education, and emergent applications. Sage Edge Computing Platform: Sage is a distributed national testbed that enables AI research at the intersection of edge computing, real-time sensor data, and high-performance computing, with 60 nodes currently deployed throughout the US.
  • NSF CloudBank 2: Accelerating Science and Engineering Research in the Commercial Cloud. Expands the portfolio of NSF OAC-supported resources by providing access to a broad range of commercial cloud computing resources. NSF CloudBank 2 introduces new capabilities, including advanced accelerators and quantum computing platforms and will be accessible to researchers through the NSF Advanced CyberInfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem: Services and Support program
  • There is now Updated Research Data Alliance (RDA) Guidance on AI Tools Usage. The updated guidance extends beyond Artificial Intelligence (AI) meeting assistants to cover different types of AI tools used in RDA meetings, events, and content creation, providing comprehensive guidelines for responsible and ethical AI use across Research Data Alliance activities.
  • New RDA Blog: Shaping Responsible AI, Four New Recommendations from the AIDV Working Group.
  • Python Data Visualization Training, Friday, September 5 Covers creating compelling visualizations using Matplotlib and Seaborn. You’ll learn to select the right chart type for your data, customize plots (labels, colors, styles), and apply design principles for clarity and impact.
  • PSC/CMU/PITT Open Hackathon Tuesday, September 9 Together with NVIDIA and OpenACC organization, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and the University of Pittsburgh will host a virtual Open Hackathon starting September 9 and concluding September 18.
  • Python for HPC Tuesday, September 9 Will explore two transformative Python technologies—Numba and Dask—that empower researchers to bridge the gap between Python’s flexibility and the performance demands of supercomputing environments. These tools unlock new possibilities for accelerating computationally intensive tasks and scaling workflows across clusters.
  • Intro to R: Tidyverse, ggplot2, dplyr Friday, September 12 Introduces data manipulation with dplyr and data visualization with ggplot2.
  • CU-RMACC Webinars: Introduction to AI for All Monday, September 15 Offers a clear, non-technical overview of key AI concepts, including AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, and Large Language Models.
  • National Research Platform Fall Training Series (Multiple Dates) Month-long series of workshops, tutorials, and hands-on sessions designed to help you get started with the National Research Platform (NRP), accelerate your research, and connect with the community. Topics range from introductory overviews to advanced workflows with Kubernetes, AI/LLMs, and CI/CD. Whether you’re a new user or an experienced researcher, there’s something for everyone. All sessions are recorded and shared online.
  • COMPLECS: Data Transfer Training Thursday, September 18 Introduction to the essential concepts and command-line tools when first beginning to transfer data to and from HPC (or any remote) systems.
  • ACES: AI/ML Techlab in Jupyter Notebooks Tuesday, September 23 This technology lab contains a set of sessions to help a new user learn fundamentals of AI and begin an AI project on the ACES cluster, a composable accelerator testbed at Texas A&M University.
  • ACES: Python for Programmers New to Python Tuesday, September 30 Course for experienced programmers that introduces the basic algorithm-oriented and object-oriented programming styles of the Python programming language.
  • Notre Dame AI Forum November 17-19 — Call for sumbmissions and registration now open. This intimate gathering of higher education IT leaders will focus on how organizations are approaching the opportunities and challenges posed by AI, grounded in an understanding of how the technology affects teaching and learning, research, and administration on college campuses.
